Sandy and Reuben!

Sandy and Reuben were such a terrific couple to photograph!  They’re both fellow avid nature lovers, so they chose the grounds at the Myriad Gardens for their engagement portraits session.  But, alas!  I hadn’t been there in a little over a year, and didn’t realize how extensively they remodeled the grounds.  Most of the gorgeous trees that made the grounds so lovely before were removed but we were still able to find two small groves of trees, so we got the leafy backgrounds they were looking forward to.  :)  Their wedding is just one short week away, and I’m really super excited to photograph my first wedding at a winery!!  :D

Katie and Justin! (Part III)

My husband and I just got back from an amazingly lovely and exhausting road-trip across the western half of the country, and one day I shall post a gazillion photos of our trip highlights!  But after that much needed break from work and the real world, I’m ready to dive headlong into the blogging universe again!  In the next couple of weeks, I will be posting all of the blogs I didn’t get a chance to post before we left…

So without further ado, here’s the long-awaiting third and final installment of Katie and Justin’s portrait session! Even though the following portraits were taken during the Part Two session, I really wanted them to stand alone because I loved too many of them and couldn’t narrow them down to just a couple!!  I mean, I’m pretty sure by now everyone knows about my serious love affair I have going on with books, so can you really blame me?  ;)  I hope to be asked in the near future to photograph another session like this!!  So much fun.  And I also took a roll of film with my Holga, and added my three favorites to the end.  :D

And now for some Holga goodness for you!  The photo below is one of my favorite Holga photos ever!!  The colors are just so vibrant and lovely.

Just amazing pictures! Happy to see more blogs also, been too long.

wow! Great, love them all. Especially love that first Holga- the dimensions are almost 3D and the sunkissed land, gentle water and beautiful sky just lend to the romantic feel of the shoot! I LOVE that pic!!

Katie and Justin! (Part II)

A birdcage veil, vintage-inspired clothing, old dusty books, a picnic blanket, wine and a pocket watch.  What more could you want in a newlywed session??  You met Katie and Justin back during their newlywed session Part One and you’ll meet them once more in their Part Three session (which were actually taken during this vintage session, but I didn’t want to post a blog with 30 photos!)  This was just such an enjoyable session, and I hope to do many more vintage inspired sessions in the future.  Katie told me she had a fancy for those vintage wedding portraits, where the bride and groom are just so ridiculously stiff and stern looking, so we tried our hand at recreating that. And despite the fact that it was SO hard not to burst into laughter, we did succeed in a few and they turned out to be my favorites.  (Especially the 11th one down.)  Here’s my favorite vintage wedding portrait:

I’m pretty addicted to photography from all decades, so I love the open-minded approach that these two took to this portrait session as well!!

wow. wow. wow. You have totally outdone yourself here! My hand is was on my heart and I was very moved by the way you were able to capture the art and love in this session!!

Sophia, Kelsey, Melissa & Jason!

You know, I can’t look at a pair of socks without wondering what socks Melissa is wearing on any given day?  :D  Melissa and I work at the library together, and every morning we have a ’sock battle’ to see who is wearing the most wicked cool socks…  That’s right, cause we are the definition of awesome.  ;)  So, when we arranged this portrait session of her lovely family, I ACCIDENTLY took like 100 photos of just their feet…  Hehe, just kidding, I only took about 20.  ;)  By the way, I really hope they call me to do their Christmas portraits, because I have a really awesome idea revolved mainly around toe socks…  ;)

So without further ado, I present to you…  SHOES!

Oh, and the rest of the terrific family, too…  ;)

Johnathan!

While this kid has not always been the biggest fan of my camera, he’s starting to realize that portrait sessions with me aren’t the worst thing that can happen to him.  ;)  Johnathan’s third birthday was the day after we did these photos.  It’s quite redundant of me, but GOOD GRIEF time fffllliiieeesss!!  And he just gets more and more handsome.

Gorgeously long eyelashes?  Check.
